The recently-launched Oxford Loebel Lectures and Research Programme (OLLRP) will present and review the best evidence of causal interaction between the biological, psychological, and social factors that contribute to mental illness, and philosophically analyse the conceptual relationships between them. There will be a series of lectures each year, the first of which will be delivered by Kenneth Seedman Kendler, Rachel Brown Banks Distinguished Professor of Psychiatry at Virginia Commonwealth University. Professor Kendler's research focuses on the genetics of psychiatric and substance abuse disorders. He is also a skilled philosopher who has written on the nature of causal explanation in psychiatry, among other things.
Professor Kendler's lectures are due to take place in Oxford on Wednesday 15th and Thursday 16th October 2014. The OLLRP website, which is due to go live at the end of February, will feature more information about the programme.
